FoodCycle East Acton
FoodCycle is a national charity that builds communities through the power of good food. FoodCycle is based upon the simple idea that waste and poverty should not co-exist and that something powerful can be achieved by cooking and eating together. Every week, volunteers at one of our 39 projects across the country reclaim over a tonne of surplus food destined for the bin. This food is instead cooked into healthy, tasty three-course community meals for vulnerable people.
FoodCycle will be opening a new project at The Old Oak Community & Children’s Centre on Sunday 8 July. It will run every Sunday and will be serving a three course meal to the local community.
At present we need more Project Leaders. These are people who support other volunteers at the project, and help ensure the 3 course meal is served on time each week. There is also the opportunity to get involved in lots of different aspects of running the project, including social media, guest outreach and sourcing food for the meal. Those interested would need to commit to volunteering at least once a month, for a minimum of 6 months (but ideally 9).
